On October 19, 2015, Summit Polymers, Inc. received its Veteran-owned Business Certificate from the National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC). The NVBDC is a not-for-profit organization that was created for the purpose of providing a credible and reliable certifying authority to ensure valid documentation and acknowledgement of a business’ Veteran ownership and control.
This certification not only recognizes Summit Polymers as a Veteran-owned business, it also provides Summit’s customers an opportunity to further diversify their sourcing. More and more companies are establishing specific and measurable goals for the amount of business they and their suppliers do with Veteran-owned businesses. Veteran-owned businesses are often included in the “diverse” category for those companies. In addition, many states and the federal government have enacted laws and policies favorable to Veteran-owned businesses and helping create opportunities when it comes to state-government contracting.
