The eleventh growth addition of a Summit Polymers manufacturing plant is located in Shelbyville, Tennessee, approximately 50 miles southeast of Nashville. Production in this state-of-the-art, plastic injection molding and decorating facility began in the summer of 2004 to initially to produce “Class A” components for Nissan / Visteon, and now also supplies BMW / Faurecia programs.
The facility employs approximately 225 people and has 23 injection molding presses ranging in size from 110 to 1100 tons. The plant also has three robotic Paint Booths. The Shelbyville plant is a world-class producer of such Summit signature components as cup-holders, consoles and I/P trim plates. A highly trained and skilled work force performing their work in Integrated Assembly cells epitomize the effective application of Lean Manufacturing Philosophies that optimize efficiency, productivity and ultimately profitability.
