Summit Componentes de Mexico (SCM) represents the international contingent of the SPI organization into the world marketplace. Located directly across the Rio Grande River from Brownsville, Texas in Matamoros, Tamaulipas (Mexico), the facility was established in 1987 as a JIT dedicated supplier to what is now the Delphi organization. Since those beginnings, when it received the General Motors "Mark Of Excellence" Award, the customer base has diversified to include Eaton, TRW and Autoliv. Beyond the SPI core product group of interior componentry, SCM specializes as a world class producer of air bag covers for driver, passenger and side door applications, with full traceability capability.
The facility employs 425 people and has 21 injection molding machines, ranging from 120 to 700 ton, including two - shot molding. Finishing processes include manual painting, robotic and reciprocator painting, sonic and vibration welding, heat staking, hot plate welding and flocking.
Continuous Improvement is the driving force within the SCM organization. The pursuit of excellence in quality and customer satisfaction is the goal.
